BLOOMINGTON – McLean County’s chief prosecutor said on Wednesday that Bloomington Police are conducting a “very active” investigation to find out who killed three men and seriously injured a four year old boy in a shooting Monday afternoon at 311 Riley Drive.
Jason Chambers, appearing on WJBC’s Afternoon Report, said he’s assigned two prosecutors to help police. Chambers himself was at the crime scene Tuesday.
“It’s a very active investigation, so I really can’t go into details of that,” Chambers told WJBC’s Sam Wood.
“Just to let you know that BPD is working that and we’ll see where it goes.”
Chambers is set to become a circuit judge in August, replacing the retiring McLean County Judge Robert Freitag. Given the gravity of unsolved murder cases and other tasks, Chambers said it’s easy to remain focused on his current job.
“I haven’t had trouble doing that,” said Chambers. “It helps that I really do love the job that I’m doing now. It’s not to remember that somebody needs to do this,” he added.
“I also realize there’s stuff that I need to hurry up and get done,”
The McLean County Board will choose Chambers’ successor until the 2020 election. Chambers said he’s willing to provide input to board members about the selection process.
