BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Kiwanis Club is holding its 9th annual Mother’s Day Flower sale.
The fundraiser pays for local kids to attend Camp Limberlost.
Bloomington Kiwanis’ Matt Hawkins said the club has been sending eight to ten year old kids to the camp since 1931.
“The teachers identify various students that it would benefit them socially, get them to interact with their peers and also might not be able to afford to pay for a camp like this as well,” said Hawkins.
Hawkins also said the sale pays for kids age eight through ten to develop their social skills.
“I think it really helps them come out of their shell a little bit. It’s a camp that emphasizes those social interactions and getting kids to build some self confidence, being able to talk to your peers a little bit more.”
The Mother’s Day Flower sale is 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9 through Saturday, May 12 at the Shoppes at College Hills.
