COLFAX – Every two seconds in the United States someone is in need of blood, according to the American Red Cross.
It’s also why the family of Daelin Tolan, 9, is asking the community to donate in her honor on Wednesday.
The girl has been receiving platelet transfusions since August due to chemotherapy treatments for her brain tumor.
Laura McGuire from the Red Cross said every blood type is encouraged to donate, especially O-negative.
“I tell people it’s kind of like a cell phone,” McGuire said. “Our blood supply needs to be recharged every night just like a cell phone needs to be recharged,” she finished.
The blood drive will be held at Ridgeview High School in Colfax from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
