NORMAL – Illinois state men’s basketball coach Dan Muller figures to have everyone on this year’s roster back for next season, though he expects junior forward Milik Yarbrourgh will declare for the NBA draft in June.
“He’s getting looks from scouts and even if its just feedback, if he does well enough in certain workouts, he has the opportunity to be a first-round draft pick,” Muller said.
Declaring for the draft would enable Yarbrough to workout for NBA teams.
Muller said that could help Yarbrough gauge what he needs to do to get to the next level after next season.
“My job is to help him the best he can navigate that and get information and help him make a decision, a smart decision,” Muller said. “I do think he can get a lot better, which is the exciting part, but Milik’s got a bright future after college basketball.”
Yarbrough, a first-team all Missouri Valley Conference player this season, can maintain his college eligibility as long he withdraws his name before the draft.
