LINCOLN – The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a wind chill advisory until 10 o’clock this morning for the WJBC listening area, and the weather service is urging people who venture outside to take precautions to prevent frost bite or hypothermia.
Wednesday’s high is expected to reach only about ten degrees above zero after sub-zero temperatures overnight.
The weather service said wind chills range from 10 to 20 below zero in parts of central, east central, and west central illinois, and there’s little relief in sight from this arctic blast before the end of the year.
High temperatures will frequently be in the teens, and even single digits north of I-72. The only break appears to be Thursday and Friday, and even then, temperatures will remain below freezing with wind chills frequently below zero.
People going outside are reminded to wear a hat and gloves.
