BLOOMINGTON – A missing Bloomington woman, who hasn’t been seen since Christmas morning, was apparently spotted about 100 miles southeast of the Twin-Cities in Mattoon on Tuesday.
Bloomington Police said investigative data and witnesses put Carmon Edwards, 53, in the Coles County community about mid-morning on Tuesday.
Police said it’s not known if Edwards proceeded farther south into southern Illinois.
Police continued to ask for the public’s help to locate Edwards, who is believed to have left Bloomington Christmas morning and did not show up for family gatherings in Pekin or Washington.
Police said Edwards may be suffering from a recent cognitive decline. She was last seen about 11 o’clock Christmas morning driving a light gold or champagne-colored 2004 Mitsubishi Galant.
The car’s license plate number is 8219185.
Police say Edwards is white, about five feet six inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown-reddish hair.
She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark blue coat, according to police
Authorities released a photo of the woman, with her family’s permission, and also released a picture of a car similar to the one she was driving.
