Ecology Action Center, IWU to offer recycling services

BLOOMINGTON – The Ecology Action Center and Illinois Wesleyan University are inviting the public to get involved in the seventh annual America Recycles Day MEGA Recycling Event.

From 9 a.m. to noon on saturday november 18th, people can bring electronics, clothes, eyeglasses, mattresses, wall-mounted thermostats containing mercury, books, and corks to IWU’s Hansen Center to promote the importance of recycling. There will also be a free, confidential paper shredding available.

The Ecology Action Center will not accept household appliances, household hazardous waste items, or business materials.

Books to Benefit will also be there to collect gently used books for a sale next spring. Any proceeds from the sale will go to STAR Adult Literacy and YouthBuild McLean County’s literacy programs.
