SPRINGFIELD – There are already seven candidates running to unseat him next year. Now, Gov. Bruce Rauner has officially announced his reelection bid.
Rauner released a video on Monday morning which depicts the Republican governor riding a motorcycle across Illinois. The message includes his new slogan ‘Home is worth fighting for.’
“We believe in the future our kids deserve and the possibilities of this great place we still call home,” Rauner said in a statement. “We have a choice. We can throw in the towel, walk away and leave our future to the same corrupt, career politicians – or we can fight. I choose to fight.”
Rauner added he still has unfinished business.
“We’ve taken on the toughest fights, property taxes, education, criminal justice, ethics,” Rauner said. “We’ve won some and we’ve lost some, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy.”
The 2018 governor’s race to be the most expensive in U.S. history with Rauner and Democrat J.B. Pritzker both buying television ads more than a year before Election Day.
