Police in Normal arrest 2 in livestreamed beating

NORMAL – Police in Normal have arrested two people in connection with an alleged beating that was broadcast on Facebook Live last weekend.

McLean County Jail records show Michael Burton, 25, of Bloomington was booked Wednesday afternoon on preliminary charges of nonconsensual dissemination of a sex image, publishing obscenity, and two counts of unlawful recording of a video at a residence.

One of the women in the video was partially nude. Burton is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Thursday afternoon.

Police also arrested a woman accused in the battery, Betty Vo, 21, of Normal, faces battery charges stemming from the incident in which one woman was being beaten at an apartment on West Parkinson Street in Normal early Sunday morning.

Normal Police brought their SWAT team to the apartment after they thought they heard gunfire coming from the apartment.

Two other men who were in the apartment were arrested on charges stemming from another party.

Normal Police said they do not anticipate any additional arrests in the case.
