Springfield Coroner releases name of Bloomington man killed in crash

SPRINGFIELD – Authorities in Springfield released the name of a 73-year old Bloomington man who died in a crash earlier this week.

According to a news release, Darrel Elkin crashed on Interstate 55 near the Clear Lake exit around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon reports Elkin died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and Illinois State Police.
