LEROY- A LeRoy man is behind bars in McLean County on multiple weapon charges.
On July 13, LeRoy police learned 52-year-old Kenneth Downey possibly possessed firearms and allegedly had homicidal ideations.
Two days later, a McLean County Judge issued a search warrant for Downey’s residence, where LeRoy and Illinois State Police searched his home.
According to a news release, there was an incident inside the home between Downey and the police.
Due to the incident, authorities charged Downey with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
After a search of his home, I-S-P and L-P-D allegedly found numerous firearms.
The Department of Children and Family Services took custody of the individuals under 18 who lived there.
Downey remains behind bars on a $150,000 dollar bond.
