BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Kiwanis Club is putting on it’s annual Mother’s Day Flower Sale this week ahead of the celebratory holiday this Sunday.
This year the Mother’s Day Flower Sale fundraising event got underway on Wednesday. The tent will be open again Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., and 9:00am-2:00pm on Saturday. The sale is closed on Sunday to honor Mother’s Day.
The sale features a wide selection of quality annuals, herbs and vegetable garden plants, hanging baskets and large planted pots.
Cathy Oloffson has been a member of the Kiwani’s Club since 2019, and she gave the Five W’s to WJBC’s Scott Miller.
“Our membership is very dedicated to the flower sale because it is a longtime fundraiser for us, and it is a fun event. We will be out at the Shoppes at College Hills in the big white tent and you can’t miss us,” Oloffson said.
Each summer since 1931, Bloomington Kiwanis has sent more than 60 eight to ten-year-olds who have been identified as children who would benefit from a camping experience, to Camp Limberlost at Timber Pointe Camp at Lake Bloomington.
“The best part about this sale is that we are raising funds for our Camp Limberlost, which provides the opportunities for kids who otherwise wouldn’t be able to attend a summer camp, it gives them the opportunity to do so and we send those kids to camp for free,” said Oloffson.
Master Gardeners will also be on site to share tips and advise shoppers how to pick the right plant and more during the event at the Shops on College Hills.
