BLOOMINGTON – Crews were called for a garage fire Thursday afternoon on Bloomington’s east side.

Authorities responded around 2:30 p.m. to the 1900 block of Woodbine Road. When crews arrived, they found smoke and fire coming from the garage.

Authorities say the fire was contained to the garage, was quickly put out, but not before the first and second floors of the home sustained smoke and water damage.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Four people were displaced from the home, but they did not request help from the Red Cross.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
