SPRINGFIELD – The birth of a baby is exciting, but for two-month-old Corbin Sarsany of Springfield, it was a little too exciting.
It was clear to Rhett Sarsany that his second child would not wait to get to the hospital on Father’s Day. He called 9-1-1 and both Springfield and Chatham fire departments showed up.
Sara Sarsany said her pregnancy was normal, though the labor at that time was unexpected. Still, baby Corbin was only one week early.
The Springfield fire chief, Brandon Blough, said it’s a good example of how departments in neighboring towns can work together – and a break from the times first responders see the worst.
“My mom works for America Ambulance, in the HR department, so she knew a few of the people who came, so that’s pretty cool,” said Sara Sarsany after a ceremony outside HSHS St John’s Hospital.
The five firefighters were presented the “Stork Pin.”
