President Biden stops at Illinois farm to announce $500M in funding

KANKAKEE – In what has turned into a struggling year for farmers, President Joe Biden announced millions of dollars in relief funds during a stop in Kankakee on Wednesday.

The President announced the new measures, including $500 million for a USDA grant to bolster domestic fertilizer production.

“I just think about it. Right now, America is fighting on two fronts – at home, it’s inflation and rising prices. Abroad, it’s helping Ukrainians defend their democracy and feeding those left hungry around the world because Russian atrocity exists.”

Tim Eggert, a writer for Farm Week Now, spent time with the President, where he visited O’Connor Farms in Kankakee.

“These are U.S. companies or U.S. businesses who are manufacturing and distributing fertilizer here at home.”

The President joined USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack at O’Connor Farms in Kankakee to unveil the new provisions.
