BLOOMINGTON – The school year is coming to a close for many local school districts, and a Regional Superintendent is looking back on the year.
Mark Jontry, Regional Superintendent for DeWitt, Logan, McLean, and Livingston Counties, reports remote learning hampered some students’ learning ability while others succeeded.
“Achievements in some areas obviously went down, but not necessarily across the board. We did have some populations of students that actually thrived in the remote learning environment. I think that speaks as much to individuals learning ability and or learning style as well as a teacher’s ability to deliver in that platform.
If nothing else, we are going to and have learned some lessons about remote learning – how we might do it differently should we have to do it again,” he added on the Afternoon Show.
Jontry said his administration is still learning lessons about remote learning in case his districts need them in the future.
In other business, Jontry expects no additional layoffs in his districts after Unit 5 laid off several teachers due to budget shortfalls.
