TAZEWELL COUNTY – The Tazewell County Emergency Management Agency is looking for volunteers.
Those interested in joining the EMA’s Search and Rescue Team can stop by an open house Tuesday.
The work of the search and rescue team not only includes finding missing people but also doing evidence searches for law enforcement.
Members get to use tools like drones, advanced radar programs and other communications tools.
Assistant team lead Mike Burns says in his 16 years of experience, outreaches help make what they do more effective.
“Volunteers don’t necessarily have the time, they have the heart,” he said. “The volunteers that we have are just greatly dedicated to our team and the teams across the state.”
There are plenty of other ways to get involved with the Emergency Management Agency other than search and rescue.
The open house starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Tazewell County EMA in Tremont.
