BLOOMINGTON – A new historical site will be recognized by The McLean County Museum of History at the beginning of May in association with Abraham Lincoln.
Nearing the 157th anniversary of the Lincoln assassination, “Looking for Lincoln” will be displayed near the site of the old Bloomington Train Depot of the Chicago and Alton Railroad.
The train called The Lincoln Special transported the body of Lincoln from Washington D.C. to Springfield. During the 13 day journey, the train passed through Bloomington on May 3rd, in 1865, stopping briefly near the Bloomington Depot.
A dedication ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m. on May 3rd, at the intersection of Chestnut and Allin Streets in Bloomington.
