ISU volleyball coach Allie Matters joins the Scott Miller Show on WJBC

NORMAL – “A rich tradition of athletic success” is one of the reasons Allie Matters accepted the volleyball coaching job at Illinois State University.

Matters was introduced to the community Monday morning on the Scott Miller Show on WJBC.

Matters comes to ISU after spending the last four seasons as the head coach at Wright State.

“There are big shoes to fill, and I think Leah had big shoes to fill, and Melissa had big shoes to fill,” said Matters. “I think we are all here for the same reason and everybody wants to win. I’m nervous, anxious and excited but I’m ready to get to work.”

Matters replaces Leah Johnson who left ISU to take the head coaching job at Michigan State.

Prior to serving as the head coach at Wright State, Matters spent seven seasons as the top assistant at her alma mater, Seton Hall.

Illinois State fans are invited to welcome coach Matters on Monday, March 14, at the Aaron Leetch Legacy Club at Hancock Stadium beginning at 2 p.m. with an introductory press conference.
