SPRINGFIELD – With all they have going on, medical students in Springfield can still take time to volunteer.
“This is what you find time for,” said Khloe Sandercock, a fourth-year student at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield. “Medical school is time-consuming, and it’s busy, but this is kind of my escape.”
Sandercock organized a shoe collection and giveaway for a pair of grade schools the school’s Pediatric Interest Group has adopted. The group spent two days putting dozens of pairs of shoes on little feet – belonging to children whose families may not be able to afford a good, new pair of shoes.
