BLOOMINGTON – Firefighters from four McLean County fire departments battled a blaze late Tuesday morning that severely damaged a home on Bloomington’s south side.
Bloomington Township Fire Chief Tom Willan said firefighters saw flames coming from the front of the house when they arrived about 10:25 a.m. to the 3000 block of Joseph Street, just off of Brigham School Road.
A man who lived there escaped before first responders arrived, but he does not have insurance, according to the fire chief.
Chief Willan said the fire started in the living room of the single-story house, but the cause is still under investigation.
He said the Red Cross is helping the resident find housing.
Bloomington Township firefighters were helped at the scene by the city’s fire department, along with firefighters from Heyworth and Downs.
