BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington council member Jenn Carillo is stepping down after a little more than two years in office.
Carillo, who represents Ward 6, is resigning after their landlord sold the house they currently reside.
“I am overjoyed that to bought my first home – a beautify house in my chosen community that I can share with those I love; saddened that I won’t be able to continue representing Ward 6 on council; determined to use this opportunity to call for the changes needed to make elected offices accessible to working-class people, and very much looking forward to the next chapter of my life,” Carillo said in a news release.
In a news release, Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe said, “it’s wonderful they were able to find a home.”
The Mayor also wished Council Member Carillo “nothing but the best as they embark on this new journey.”
Carillo’s term will end on Aug. 31., 2021.
