BLOOMINGTON – The numbers are in from dispatch calls in McLean County after thunderstorms last weekend.
Bloomington dispatch received more than 600 calls for service last Friday through Saturday, with 300 of them for Bloomington Police and 150 for the Bloomington Fire Department.
“The total number of calls is almost triple the normal average number of calls for service in the month of June,” said Communications & External Affairs Mgr. Katherine Murphy in a news release. “Public Works remains busy assessing damage throughout the city and continuing with clean up of mud and debris. Workers are also addressing the 30+ sinkholes that occurred during the storms.”
On Wednesday, the McLean County Board declared a local disaster from the storm damage that left many Twin-City residents with flooded basements.
“I appreciate Chairman McIntyre making this declaration,” City Manager Tim Gleason said. “The city continues to track expenses tied to the storms and the subsequent damage.”
Bloomington residents, who feel the city is at fault for storm damage, can file a claim with the city.
