BLOOMINGTON – At this time, the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health will require students and staff to wear masks in schools in the fall, even when fully vaccinated.
District 87 Superintendent Dr. Barry Reilly released an update on Wednesday. He says the district will follow the masking mandate currently in place by ISBE and IDPH.

“District 87 is not requiring students or staff to receive the vaccination, but we are encouraging eligible individuals to receive the vaccine to strengthen the health of our schools and community,” Reilly said in the update. “Local walk-in clinics are available for all residents age 12 and up.”
As the new school year approaches or as COVID-19 guidelines are updated, information will be posted at www.district87.org/covid.
