Former Unit 5 teacher wanted for rape in Nashville, shortly after local charges dropped

NORMAL – A former Unit 5 teacher is wanted for sexual battery by an authority figure and rape in Nashville, just months after charges were dismissed in McLean County following accusations of child molestation.

Jonathon Hovey is awaiting extradition from Macon County to Tennessee. Further details were not available.

The initial charges of predatory criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse in Mclean County were filed against Hovey in August 2019 after he was accused of sexually molesting two first graders when he taught at Glenn Elementary School in Normal. One incident reportedly in 2004, the other in 2017.

Those charges were dropped against Hovey, now 49 years old, because of “unavailable witnesses.”
