University Farm continues to teach ISU students

LEXINGTON – The Illinois State University farm has been around since 1914, and while its moved around over the years, its been located in Lexington since 2003.

The ISU farm consists of crop ground (mainly corn and soybeans), beef cattle, sheep and pigs.

Farm manager Jason Lindbom is a graduate of the ISU Department of Agriculture. He spoke with WJBC’s Marc Strauss.

“We have updated lot of our equipment out here and we are doing a lot of precision work with our crops,” said Lindbom. “Quite a few of our students don’t have much background and don’t come from a farm. So giving them this hands-on experience will definitely help them so that when they look for jobs they know what they are getting into.”

Lindbom has been the ISU farm manager since 2017.
