BLOOMINGTON – While city council meetings remain virtual due to COVID-19, one Bloomington official may look a bit different on your computer screen.
Bloomington City Manager Tim Gleason has lost over 45 pounds following a low carb, high protein diet, along with exercise.
“You know I was just at a point in my life where I needed to get my head up, quite honest,” Gleason told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “You get so busy with work and other things and you don’t take care of yourself. But now I feel great.”

Gleason gives credit to his primary care physician Dr. Ira Halperin at OSF and his kids who live in the Phoenix area who set him up with the Scottsdale Weight Loss program.
“I’ll be 56 next month, and you know working to 65, I really do want to,” Gleason said. “I want to be in this community, I love this type of work and I find it very rewarding and fulfilling.”
Earlier this week, the Bloomington City Council extended Gleason’s contract by nine months until March 2025, the earliest time he could retire. His salary remains the same at just over $197,000.
