SPRINGFIELD – We’re getting a hint of Gov. JB Pritzker’s proposals for the state budget for the fiscal year that starts July 1.
More federal funding. Hundreds of millions in spending cuts. Closing loopholes. The governor’s proposed budget, out Feb. 17, will not include an increase in the income tax, as feared after the graduated tax amendment failed, but business groups are likely to see the closed loopholes as a tax hike.
Pritzker says he will combine painful choices with strengthened departments of public health, employment security, and children and family services.
