BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man was jailed Monday night for felony drunk driving and other charges after his pickup truck struck a pedestrian who suffered life-threatening injuries.
The McLean County Sherriff’s Office said Randy Stine, 59, told a friend that he hit “something” while driving on Six Points Road just southwest of Bloomington about 6 p.m. Saturday.
According to our news partner HOI ABC, police said Stine initially drove off, but returned with his friend. He faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries in addition to aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm.
The male victim was found in a ditch on the side of the road. Sheriff’s Police said he suffered brain injuries, three broken bones in his neck, and broken ribs. He’s being treated at a local hospital.
Stine’s blood alcohol level was not available. Police said they’re still investigating Stine’s whereabouts before the accident.
He has to post a $5,035 cash bond to be released from the McLean County Jail pending a court appearance.
