BLOOMINGTON – A person was rescued from a balcony with a ladder during an apartment building fire Wednesday morning in Bloomington, according to authorities.
No one was injured in the incident and two cats were also rescued, said Bloomington Police Department Public Information Officer Eric Davison.
Fire departments from Bloomington and Normal were called to the apartment complex at 1900 Tracy Drive at around 7:40 a.m., Davison said.
The fire started on the garden level of complex, said Davison.
Not all units had tenets at the time of the blaze and the Red Cross is assisting families to find housing.
A cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is still under investigation.
