SPRINGFIELD – A Republican senator and a Democratic representative Thursday shared a Zoom call to say not enough is being done … by not enough people … in the state’s coronavirus response.
Sen. Sue Rezin (R-Morris) said she is concerned about underfunded local public health departments. “Do they have the resources coming in from the federal CARES Act? Is that money getting down to our the local public health departments so they can be successful in this contact tracing?” she said. “Also, what are the metrics for contact tracing? We don’t know! We just hear about ‘contact tracing.’”
“The financial impact this is having on our state calls for an all-hands-on-deck approach,” said Rep. LaShawn Ford (D-Chicago), “and a plan to work with the governor to deal with the impact this is having on our state.”
