CHICAGO – Many are focused on this week’s election, but one thing not going away – COVID-19.

““I recommend everyone that worked at a polling location or stood in line to vote, please get tested for COVID-19,” said Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.
She said we are fully into the second surge of the virus and cases are increasing exponentially.
IDPH Wednesday reported 7,538 new coronavirus cases and 55 additional deaths. The statewide rolling positivity rate is 8.5%.
As of last night, 3,761 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 776 patients were in the ICU and 327 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
