BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington Election Commission says it has a solution after ballot errors halted early voting a week ago.

Initially left off the ballot were retention questions for Judges Jennifer Bauknecht and Matthew Fitton.

BEC Executive Director Tim Mitchell said in a news release that city voters who cast ballots before October 2 will receive supplemental ballots in the mail. Those ballots with only the two omitted retention questions will be sent to voters on Monday.

“This plan gives every voter who was impacted an opportunity to cast a vote on the 11th Circuit Court Judicial Retention questions,” said Mitchell.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
