BLOOMINGTON – Country Financial will be eliminating approximately 200 positions throughout the company over the next 15 months.

Our news partner HOI ABC reports nearly half of those positions will be eliminated through attrition with the rest through displacements.

According to public relations manager Chris Stroisch, the company will also no longer offer a pension plan to new employees starting January 2021.

Current employees will receive a slightly modified pension plan.

Current salaried employees will also not be receiving a merit increase next year.

Stroisch adds the company plans to sell its corporately-owned regional office in Salem, Oregon. Most of the approximately 100 employees in that office will continue to work remotely as they have since the beginning of the pandemic.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
