BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly stabbing another man outside a tavern.
Bloomington Police were called Saturday around 12:55 a.m. to the 400 block of North Main Street. Police found a 29-year-old man who was struck with a hatchet outside the tavern. It was reported a confrontation started inside the establishment and continued outside. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
BPD said the suspect fled the scene, and shortly after the stabbing they arrested Kwame Weathers, 48, at his residence in the 500 block of East Douglas Street. Officers were able to locate the hatchet at the residence.
While in custody, Weathers damaged the squad car, and kicked at the squad car cage several times, according to BPD.
Weathers faces charges for aggravated battery, use of a deadly weapon, and criminal damage to government property. He was taken to the McLean County jail and bond was requested at $50,000.
