BLOOMINGTON – A Democrat on the McLean County Board says he has submitted his resignation letter effective September 30.

This year, Carlo Robustelli, who represents District 8, announced he would not be seeking re-election, but did not give a reason.

On Tuesday, Robustelli announced he is moving to Carlisle, PA., to join the Dickinson College leadership team as the Vice President of Advancement.

“While this new professional opportunity is very exciting for me and my family, it is incredibly difficult to move away from such a great community with so many cherished friends and colleagues. When we moved to Bloomington-Normal in 2011, I never imagined I would end up serving in an elected office and have so many opportunities to make a difference.”

Robustelli also serves as the Assistant Vice President for Advancement at Illinois Wesleyan University. Additionally, Robustelli serves as the Chair of the Bloomington-Normal Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together over the past 7-years, and I’m confident that McLean County has a bright future. There is no doubt that I will miss this community very much.”

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
