Positivity rate drops, McLean County remains at warning level for COVID

BLOOMINGTON – The McLean County Health Department Friday reported 105 new cases of coronavirus as the county will remain on the state’s warning list for COVID.

MCHD Administrator Jessica McKnight said the county is listed at a warning level by the Illinois Department of Public Health based on the number of new cases reported per 100,000 population and a positvitiy rate above 8%.

“Individuals, families, and community groups can use these critical data to help inform their choices about personal and family gatherings, as well as what activities they choose to do,” said McKnight.

The county’s rolling positivity rate dropped from 10.2% to 9.4%. There are 1,382 active cases in the county, nine people are hospitalized, two in intensive care, and 1,373 are isolating at home.

An additional 60 people have been released from isolation, now 1,402 have recovered. There have been 18 COVID-related deaths.

Meanwhile, 43 students tested positive for coronavirus at Illinois State University. ISU’s total is now 1,372 while the rolling positivity rate fell to 9.3%. Illinois Wesleyan University reported three additional cases, bringing their total to 100.
