Life prison sentence possible for accused Bloomington child molester

BLOOMINGTON – A Twin-Cities man faces the possibility of life in prison on charges he sexually molested two children.

McLean County prosecutors have filed 21 charges in all against Dennis Dougherty, 38, of Bloomington, according to our news partner HOI ABC.

Ten of the charges are Class X felonies alleging predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, carrying mandatory life sentences if Dougherty is convicted.

He’s also charged with four counts of criminal sexual assault and seven counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The sex crimes allegedly happened between 2016 and June of this year.

A judge set bond for Dougherty at $1 million dollars. He would have to post $100,035 to be released from the McLean County Jail.
