BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Police say a 27-year-old woman has been arrested after an alleged DUI crash that left herself and another driver injured.
Officers were called to the intersection of Madison Street and Oakland Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday for a two vehicle crash, with one flipped over.
It was reported a vehicle was driving north on Madison Street and another on West Oakland Avenue before the crash.
The driver of the overturned vehicle, Destiney Bates, of Bloomington, allegedly fled from the scene but was then seen walking out of a nearby apartment. After a foot chase, Bates was arrested without incident and a DUI investigation was conducted, according to the Bloomington Police Department.
Bates was arrested for aggravated DUI causing an accident or bodily harm, driving under the influence with a BAC of .08 or more, failure to report an accident with injury, failure to obey a stop sign, operating an uninsured vehicle, resisting a police officer, driving with no license, and a suspended registration.
After the DUI investigation, Bates requested to be transported to the St. Joseph’s emergency room, where she was treated but then released. She was then transported to the McLean County Jail where she was being held as of Friday morning.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 22-year-old Normal woman was transported to Advocate BroMenn Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
