BLOOMINGTON – A local woman decided to fly to Washington D.C. over the weekend because she was compelled to protest.
Tricia Braid of Heyworth was disturbed by the video of George Floyd’s death and all that has happened over the last week. On a whim, she decided to travel to the nation’s capital.
“The attacks I was seeing on the media felt more personal having been someone who worked as a journalist previously,” Braid told WJBC’s Scott Miller. “Then Thursday morning I saw a friend of mine who lives in Washington D.C. post photos of her own. When I saw her view of D.C. through her eyes, it was at that point I knew I had to go see it for myself, so that was Thursday morning and I flew out Friday night.”
“I also wanted to provide through my eyes and ears another perspective for people back home,” she said.
Braid said she is still processing the entire experience. Some of her photos and a video are listed below.
