BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Police are addressing rumors that looters may target residential areas Monday night.
In a Facebook post Monday afternoon, BPD said at this time, there is no credible information to substantiate this rumor. Authorities said there will be a lot of rumors during this time.
Police said if they do receive any credible threats, information will be shared on BPD’s social media pages and other city verified communication platforms.
In addition, BPD said there is no curfew at this time, however, that can change quickly depending on the circumstance. Normal Mayor Chris Koos said the town and city would work together if a curfew were to be implemented.
Authorities said for general safety, follow these safety tips:
- Stay inside
- Lock your vehicles
- Remove items from your vehicles
- Check your windows, lock your doors
- Keep an eye out for suspicious behavior
- In an emergency, call 911
