SPRINGFIELD – Bad news for those who love the keystone event of the summer in Springfield and Du Quoin:
“I think it’s highly unlikely that we will be able to hold our state fairs,” said Gov. JB Pritzker, responding to a question at Wednesday’s coronavirus briefing. “You know that this will be many people packed together in buildings or even on pathways.”
And Pritzker put the spotlight on the plight of the black and brown.
“Because of decades of disparities in health care access and deliveries, we have seen the worst aspects of this pandemic fall disproportionately upon the communities of color in our state,” he said.
Sixty percent of Latinos tested in Illinois have been positive.
Illinois has recorded 68,232 coronavirus cases, 2,974 of whom have died.
