SPRINGFIELD – A northwest Illinois church sued – and failed – in its fight against Gov. JB Pritzker’s “stay home” order, but the church held Sunday services anyway.
“We have always asked local law enforcement to enforce these orders, and the best way to do that is to remind the pastor and the parishioners that they are putting themselves in danger by holding a service like this,” Pritzker said at his daily coronavirus briefing Monday.
He urges patience and caution.
“Just because you are asymptomatic does not mean you do not have coronavirus, and so for a little while longer, as we await development of a treatment — you saw one was already approved, but it is only for severe cases, but there are seventy of those being tested, looking for approval by the FDA,” said the governor.
Illinois has reported 63,840 coronavirus cases and 2,662 deaths.
