AAA: Gasoline demand plummets, Illinois gas $1.96

BLOOMINGTON – Gas in Bloomington-Normal is $1.73 a gallon, down from $2.30 a month ago.

Gas a year ago in the Twin-Cities cost $2.71, according to the AAA Weekly Fuel Gauge.  As of Monday, gas in Champaign is a $1.96, in Peoria $1.96, and $1.58 Springfield.

Monday’s national gas price average is $1.92. That is nine cents cheaper than last Monday, 48 cents less than a month ago and 81 cents less expensive than a year ago. On the week, pump prices continued to push less expensive with gasoline demand registering at its lowest point since 1993.
