Local sheriff’s office joins others in college scholarship program

CLINTON – DeWitt County Sheriff Mike Walker announced Tuesday the department will be awarding a scholarship for a student wishing to pursue higher education.

The scholarship will be $500 and must be applied to tuition, books and fees only. The student also must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within Illinois. Applications must be submitted by March 15. A link to the application can be found here.

The effort is part of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association scholarship program, which will be awarding $58,000 to college students across the state.
