BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Mayor Tari Renner believes the city is starting 2020 “in better shape” compared to last year.
Renner delivered his annual state-of-the-city address during Monday night’s committee of the whole meeting. The mayor mentioned several accomplishments from over the year, including the establishment of an economic development department and upgrades to roads around the city.
He said looking ahead some challenges involve capital projects.
“Those include a new O’Neill Park swimming pool, a new fire station to improve 911 service on the east side, and an expansion of the Bloomington Public Library,” said Renner.
Renner also noted economic development as a key moving forward.
“We want to take full advantage of our community assets like our downtown, traffic along Veterans Parkway, and promote economic development in a much more broader way,” he said.
The annual address was Renner’s seventh as mayor.
