School board to vote on new Unit 5 superintendent

NORMAL – A recommendation has been made for the next superintendent of Unit 5.

The Unit 5 School Board is expected to approve Dr. Kristen Kendrick-Weikle as the district’s 13th superintendent during a special meeting Monday, according to a news release.

“Dr. Kendrick-Weikle will be an excellent addition to the Unit 5 Family,” said Board President Barry Hitchins. “She brings vision, passion and experience to our District that will serve our staff, students and community as we continue to educate each student to achieve personal excellence.”

Kendrick-Weikle has been an educator for 23 years and is currently the Superintendent at Warrensburg-Latham CUSD 11, which is northwest of Decatur.

If approved, Kendrick-Weikle would would begin her new position July 1, replacing Dr. Mark Daniel, who has been in Unit 5 since July 2014.
