SPRINGFIELD– As the House was taking its vote on the President’s war powers Thursday, a group gathered in Springfield to send a message.
“We do have options,” said organizer Elizabeth Scrafford. “I think our best option is an electoral option. When it comes to the U.S., I think President Trump needs to take a step back and sit down.”
“Anybody who has a teenage son or a teenage daughter,” said Dan Barham, a father of three young men, “needs to really think long and hard about whether or not, if an armed conflict really gets out of control, if they are willing to have their child go fight and maybe die for this.”
Barham said this is not about putting down an enemy – with whom the U.S. had been making progress three years ago – it’s about President Trump trying to win re-election.
