BLOOMINGTON – The Salvation Army of McLean County is looking for a big surge as its annual Christmas campaign comes to a close.
Development Director Angie Bubon said donations to the red kettles are behind by 20%. The overall donation goal of $520,000 is about 15% behind, according to Bubon.
“With Thanksgiving later this year, we lost about a week of red kettles being out at stores,” said Bubon. “We’ve seen a decrease in kettle donations the last few years with people not carrying as much cash and not going to stores.”
Bubon added all money donated in McLean County stays in the area for services throughout the year.
Bell ringers are hoping for a big push as kettles will be out through Christmas Eve.
The Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers. More information to volunteer or donate can be found here.
