BLOOMINGTON – A man remained jailed Sunday night for allegedly stabbing another man in the neck near Downtown Bloomington.
A judge ordered Elbert Hawkins, 50, to remain in the McLean County Jail unless he comes up with a $10,035 cash bond.
Prosecutors told the judge during a bond hearing that Bloomington Police found the victim on the ground early Saturday at 308 E. Jefferson St.
He reportedly identified Hawkins as the man who stabbed him. Hawkins allegedly confessed to the stabbing, saying he and the other man were involved in a fight. A witness also reported seeing Hawkins with a knife.
The victim was taken to a local hospital. His condition is not known.
Hawkins is charged with aggravated battery, which is a felony. Hawkins is not allowed to have contact with the victim if he’s released on bond.
